The Moose Speaks:

I am a semi-retired vending route owner wanting to still stay active in this industry. I might be able to help a few of you become more successful as well as help some of you prevent losing your investment.  Vending is not for everybody, when it fits, it works and when it doesn't, it can cost you a bundle of money.

Before you invest in any business try to do your research.  Talk to local vending companies, the better business bureau and always contact the National Automatic Merchandising Association in Chicago for help.  Vendors Exchange International has a great chat room for vendors around the country.  They talk, exchange ideas and work out problems together.  Always try to find time to attend the NAMA convention.  It is held twice a year.  You can get the dates from their website.

There are a lot of great people in this industry.  There are also a lot of not so great people.  Try to be sure and avoid the later.

Also, if you are serious about researching vending, contact your local SCORE office.  This is a free service for people in business.  It is a group of retired business executives willing to work with folks starting a new business.  This is time well spent.

Contact the vending journals such as Automatic Merchandising, Vending Times, Coin-Op Trader and others.  Most of these can be ordered free and the information is very useful to anyone in this industry.

So now, let's get started on building you're vending route.  Get that checkbook ready, a good locator can cost you.
